ACT with cautious optimism
Feb 26, 2026 at 11:09 AMEmirates SkyCargo from Dubai (UAE) has announced the introduction of two additional weekly cargo flights to India to meet the increasing demand. These new connections, starting on March 4, 2026, in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, will complement the existing services of the airline, which already operates three weekly cargo flights to India. With this expansion, Emirates SkyCargo aims to further strengthen trade relations between India and international markets.
These cargo services are expected to transport a variety of goods, including pharmaceuticals, fresh food, and electronic devices. Emirates SkyCargo transports an average of 3,000 tons of cargo from India weekly, serving important trade flows.
Growth of Trade Relations
The introduction of the new cargo flights comes against the backdrop of growing bilateral trade between India and the UAE. According to Emirates SkyCargo, there is an accelerated growth of Indian exports to the UAE, which exceeds the overall export growth of India. The airline supports this trend by transporting large quantities of pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, and electronics weekly.
In addition to the new cargo flights to India, Emirates SkyCargo plans to introduce a weekly cargo flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting in April 2026.
Logistics Network and Infrastructure
In addition to air freight capacities, Emirates SkyCargo has also established an extensive road network to reach remote destinations in India. In 2025, over 1,000 trucks from the airline transported nearly 5,500 tons of cargo within India. The transported goods included automotive and aircraft parts, textiles, and machinery. To transport sensitive pharmaceutical products, the airline uses temperature-controlled refrigerated vehicles.
Recently, Coimbatore and Goa were added to the road network, facilitating access to global markets for new businesses in these cities. Coimbatore is a significant center for the manufacturing industry and hosts numerous small and medium-sized enterprises operating in various sectors.
Commitment to the Industry
Since the launch of flights to Mumbai and Delhi in 1985, Emirates SkyCargo has significantly expanded its network and now serves nine Indian cities. The airline also participates in industry events such as Air Cargo India this week in Mumbai to engage with other industry players and discuss developments in the logistics sector.
