Feb 24, 2026 at 8:48 AMHapag-Lloyd and DSV have signed a new framework agreement aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the use of sustainable shipping fuels. This agreement, which has a duration of two years, stipulates a contractual reduction of a total of 18,000 tons of CO₂e, as reported by Hapag-Lloyd. The focus is on Scope 3 emissions, which include indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain. The partnership between Hapag-Lloyd and DSV builds on an existing collaboration in the field of maritime biofuels that was initiated in 2022.
Details of the Agreement
According to the agreement, the emission reductions will be achieved based on the Well-to-Wake (WTW) calculation. The contract period begins in 2026, and the reductions are to be achieved through the use of second-generation biofuels. These biofuels are produced from waste and residual materials and are intended to support measurable progress towards net-zero emissions in maritime transport.
