The contract includes the delivery of up to three million sleepers and has a contract value of around 50 million euros for the first two years, as reported by Vossloh.
Reduction of CO2 emissions
A central goal of this project is the reduction of CO2 emissions during the production of the sleepers. Vossloh relies on cement from Heidelberg Materials, which is produced using a new carbon capture technology. According to Vossloh, this method allows for a reduction of emissions in production by more than 40 percent compared to conventional processes. The sleepers will be manufactured at the Sateba plant in Hønefoss, Norway.
