Feb 23, 2026 at 1:17 PMVolvo Trucks has commenced production of its new regional transporter, the „Volvo VNR,“ at its facility in Dublin, Virginia. According to the manufacturer, the „Volvo VNR“ is designed to meet the specific requirements of urban and regional delivery operations.
The introduction of the „Volvo VNR“ took place in March 2025, followed by the opening of the order books six months later. The company has now produced the first vehicles. The transporter is based on a newly developed platform that, according to the manufacturer, deviates by 90 percent from the previous model series. This is intended to provide better adaptation to the challenges in urban environments.
Modernization of the production site
The assembly of the „Volvo VNR“ takes place at the New River Valley plant, the largest production facility of Volvo Trucks worldwide. To expand production capacities and increase efficiency, Volvo recently invested $400 million in extensive modernization efforts. This includes the construction of a new 32,000 m² facility for cab welding, as well as improvements to the paint and material flow systems.
