Feb 23, 2026 at 2:16 PMThe Glasgow Prestwick Airport recently welcomed Indian Consul General Siddharth Malik to discuss trade relations between the UK and India, as well as new investments in the airport’s cold chain infrastructure. This visit took place in the context of the upcoming free trade agreement between the two countries, which is expected to come into effect in April 2026. During his visit on Friday, the Consul General was accompanied by Kevin Braidwood, the Deputy Chief Executive of South Ayrshire Council, and Calum McPhail, the Business Development Officer of the local authority. Together, they toured the airport’s cargo facilities, which have recently been modernized.
The discussions focused on the forthcoming free trade agreement and the importance of cold chain facilities. The new facilities at Glasgow Prestwick Airport are intended to support the export of Scottish salmon, pharmaceutical products, and other perishable goods.
