East Midlands: Larger Freighters
Feb 20, 2026 at 10:16 AMMagma Aviation has completed the introduction of a customized Cargo Management System (CMS) specifically tailored to the needs of the air freight industry. With this development, the company is taking another step in its digital transformation strategy aimed at modernizing internal processes and optimizing the customer experience.
Optimization of Operational Processes
As part of its digitalization vision, Magma Aviation recognized the need to centralize operational data and eliminate the fragmentation that often occurs in freight airlines. Many companies still rely on various spreadsheets and isolated systems, leading to duplicated efforts, inconsistent data, and internal disagreements.
To address this issue, Magma Aviation has focused on creating a unified, connected environment that allows all departments—from sales to finance to operations—to access the same information sources. This fosters better internal alignment and enables teams to work with greater clarity, accuracy, and real-time transparency.
Paul Hoatson, Head of Network Planning & Alliances at Magma Aviation, emphasizes: “As a customer-oriented company, a CMS tailored to our business model helps us improve internal coordination and reflect the quality of service we provide to our customers.”
Importance of a Customized CMS in Air Freight
The air freight industry requires a high level of speed, accuracy, and data consistency. Nevertheless, some segments of the industry still rely on manual spreadsheets, preventing them from achieving their full operational efficiency. Standard CMS solutions often do not meet the demands of complex freight environments. In examining available CMS solutions, Magma Aviation found that no existing software solution could meet the requirements of its operational model or the necessary level of integration.
Following the successful implementation of the CMS within the company, its value has also been recognized by a key industry partner. In collaboration with Forward Momentum, Magma now has the opportunity to license the system to third parties, allowing the benefits of the platform to also assist organizations that manage their own freight capacity without having an AOC.
Barry Zigner, CEO of Forward Momentum, states: “As a technology partner, we are proud to support freight companies in achieving their full operational potential through a system solution designed for their business that can grow with them.”
