Feb 20, 2026 at 2:59 PMA.P. Moller – Maersk has appointed Charles van der Steene as the new Regional Managing Director for the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, and Africa (IMEA). The appointment took effect on January 1, 2026. Van der Steene brings over 15 years of experience in the logistics industry and has been with Maersk since 2011.
In his previous career, van der Steene has gained extensive knowledge in commercial strategy, operational excellence, and leadership. From 2016 to 2019, he worked in the IMEA region, where he served as Regional CEO for DAMCO, the supply chain and logistics division of Maersk. This division was fully integrated into Maersk in 2020. After his time in the IMEA region, he took over the leadership of Sales & Marketing in North America and was most recently responsible for the entire North America region.
Strategic Importance of the IMEA Region
