Feb 20, 2026 at 12:56 PMThe Bengaluru Airport, BLR Airport, has shipped over 60 million roses worldwide this Valentine’s season. A total of approximately 60 million rose stems weighing more than 2,700 tons were transported to 26 international and 47 domestic destinations. This represents an increase of 38% compared to the previous year in terms of the number of stems and a 64% increase in total weight. With this, BLR Airport solidifies its position as India’s leading gateway for the export of perishable goods for five consecutive years.
International shipments remained stable at 305 tons, with Singapore (SIN) standing out as the primary destination abroad. Other significant destinations include Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Abu Dhabi (AUH), New York (JFK), and Kuwait (KWI). Newly added international destinations this season are Los Angeles (LAX), London Gatwick (LGW), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Toronto (YYZ), and Orlando (MCO).
In domestic traffic, 2,402 tons of roses were transported, marking a 79% increase compared to the previous year. Delhi (DEL) and Kolkata (CCU) remained the main recipients, while Guwahati (GAU), Mumbai (BOM), and Jaipur (JAI) also exhibited strong throughput rates. Notably, Kolkata (CCU), Mumbai (BOM), Chandigarh (IXC), and Lucknow (LKO) recorded growth of over 150% compared to the last season.
Enhanced Infrastructure for the Cargo Sector
This positive development is supported by the expanded cargo infrastructure of BLR Airport, which ensures freshness, speed, and precise temperature control. The modern cold chain facilities are equipped with real-time tracking and advanced technology to protect each shipment and proactively manage temperature deviations. This ensures seamless storage, handling, and transportation of goods.
Investments in infrastructure strengthen BLR Airport’s position as a key cargo hub and support the transport of high-value shipments during peak times. By improving efficiency, safety, and turnaround times, the airport is well-positioned to meet the growing global demand while ensuring reliable, seamless connectivity to domestic and international markets.
