Feb 18, 2026 at 10:10 AMStefano Messina (2nd from right) remains President of Assarmatori for the term 2026-2030. This was decided at the assembly of the association’s members, which recently took place at the headquarters in Rome. The unanimous election followed the recommendations of a nomination committee formed last autumn under the chairmanship of Franco Del Giudice (2nd from left). After extensive consultations with the members, the committee concluded to recommend Messina again.
The assembly began with a report from the outgoing president and the previous board, as well as an update of the statutes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the association. During the session, the board of Assarmatori was also re-elected. The previous members Stefano Beduschi, Gaudenzio Bonaldo Gregori, Matteo Catani, Franco Del Giudice, Mariaceleste Lauro, Luigi Merlo, Achille Onorato (far right), Salvatore Ravenna, Vincenzo Romeo (far left), and Pasquale Russo were confirmed. New members added to the leadership team included Luigi Cafiero, Giacomo Gavarone, Corrado Neri, and Ivanhoe Romin. The two previous vice presidents, Achille Onorato and Vincenzo Romeo, were re-elected, while Franco Del Giudice joined as the third vice president. The organization continues to be led by Secretary General Alberto Rossi and Deputy Secretary General Giovanni Consoli.
Stefano Messina expressed his pleasure at being re-elected and emphasized the importance of the previous work for the national and international positioning of the association. „I am grateful for the trust of my colleagues, who have recognized our progress. However, there is no reason for complacency, as we still have many challenges to face,“ Messina stated. The priority issues that the association intends to focus on in the coming months include reviewing the current environmental policy of the European Union, simplifying bureaucratic processes in maritime transport, promoting human resources, and further developing Italy’s maritime industry.
