Feb 17, 2026 at 7:44 AMAnemoi Marine Technologies has appointed Claudene Sharp-Patel, the Technical Director of Lloyd’s Register (LR), to its Technical Advisory Committee. This appointment aims to leverage Sharp’s extensive maritime experience and regulatory knowledge to benefit the committee overseeing the development of Anemoi’s wind-assisted propulsion solutions.
Claudene Sharp-Patel has been in her current position at LR since 2022, where she holds the highest engineering role within the British classification society. She was also the first woman in Australia to obtain the Chief Engineer certification and has spent several years working on bulk carriers and tankers for companies such as BHP, Shell, and BP.
Responsibilities of the Technical Advisory Committee
The Technical Advisory Committee is tasked with reviewing Anemoi’s designs and overseeing testing, production, and operational processes. The goal is to ensure that Anemoi’s rotor sails are not only safe and reliable but also optimize ship performance, are user-friendly, and remain competitive. The committee consists of executives from Anemoi as well as external experts who provide valuable industry insights and qualified advice.
Lloyd’s Register has played a significant role in the development of Anemoi. Recently, Anemoi’s new performance prediction methodology, specifically designed for wind-assisted propulsion systems, was verified by LR. Additionally, LR has ensured the integration of Anemoi solutions on a variety of vessels. Claudene thus brings a comprehensive understanding of Anemoi’s solutions as well as the broader market and regulatory frameworks that influence the growing demand for wind-assisted propulsion systems.
“It is an exciting time to be involved in the field of wind-assisted propulsion systems, as the market focus shifts from feasibility studies to scaling production and accelerating adoption. I look forward to supporting the development of Anemoi’s solutions and their installed base in this new advisory role,” stated Claudene Sharp-Patel.
Clare Urmston, CEO of Anemoi, also expressed positive sentiments regarding the appointment: “We are very pleased to welcome Claudene to our Technical Advisory Committee. She brings a unique perspective that combines significant operational experience with a deep understanding of the rules, regulations, and market factors that Anemoi must incorporate into the designs of the next generation of rotor sails. With her knowledge, we can confidently advance our market-leading solutions.”
