Feb 17, 2026 at 11:00 AMBigLift Shipping has awarded a new construction contract for a heavy-lift vessel to expand its fleet. The delivery of the ship is scheduled for June 2028 and is intended to increase the company’s capacities in heavy-lift and project cargo transport. This decision comes against the backdrop of rising global demand in this segment, as the company reports. The new vessel will be built as a sister ship to the already established „Happy Star“ at Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co., Ltd in Dalian, China. The order initially includes one ship, with an option for a second, which underscores BigLift’s long-term focus on the heavy-lift market.
Specifications and applications
According to the company, the planned vessel will enable tandem lifts of up to 2,200 tons. A continuous weather deck and an adjustable tween deck are to be utilized for optimizing cargo space. Additionally, two heavy-lift mast cranes, supplied by Huisman, will be installed, each with a lifting capacity of 1,100 tons. The ship will be constructed according to Finnish and Swedish standards of the 1A ice class, which means it is designed for operation under demanding conditions worldwide.
