AXA XL and USMIG collaborate
Feb 16, 2026 at 10:25 AMFor its flights planned from Rome-Fiumicino to Seattle starting at the end of April, Alaska Airlines has appointed Global GSA Group as its General Sales & Service Agent (GSSA). This new route aims to strengthen the airline’s cargo operations from Italy and position Seattle as a key air traffic hub to North America and beyond.
The collaboration with Global GSA Group, one of the leading GSSAs in Europe, aims to expand the airline’s cargo capacities in transatlantic and transpacific markets. Starting at the end of April, daily flights will be offered with the Boeing 787-9, providing the Italian shipping community with connections to over 100 destinations in the USA, the Asia-Pacific region, the South Pacific, and Latin America. Global GSA Group will take on the commercial responsibility for selling the cargo capacities on these flights. The new route opens up opportunities for transporting essential goods such as aircraft spare parts, fashion items, food, pharmaceuticals, and machinery components.
Aytekin Saray, Managing Director of Global GSA Group, emphasizes the close collaboration with Italian shippers and the intention to maximize the benefits of this new cargo connection for both the community and Alaska Airlines. „The Rome-Seattle route is particularly attractive as it offers direct service to the Pacific Northwest and beyond, catering to the variety of high-quality, specialized goods that Italy exports and with which Global GSA Group has experience,“ explains Saray.
Cargo plays a significant role in the airline’s strategy to diversify additional revenue sources. Alaska Airlines is expanding its cargo business through its hub in Seattle, particularly towards Asia and as part of its expansion plans in Europe. Ian Morgan, Vice President of Cargo at Alaska Airlines, explains that the partnership with Global GSA Group enables the establishment of new shipping connections between Rome and Seattle as well as along the West Coast.
The airline serves a variety of destinations, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as over 115 international destinations. Morgan sees the collaboration with Global GSA Group as an opportunity to build an important new partnership for the shipping community.
