Record transport of flowers from Kenya to Europe
Feb 16, 2026 at 3:23 PMAir Charter Service (ACS) recently successfully completed a significant transport operation of over 400 tons of blueberries from Peru to New York. This delivery was necessary as the blueberry harvest season in Peru runs from August to November, with the main harvest occurring in September and October. Peru is one of the largest exporters of blueberries worldwide, and during this period, export volumes increase significantly, exceeding the capacities of regular passenger flights, particularly on the route from Lima to New York.
According to Ana Benavente, CEO of ACS São Paulo, it is crucial for supermarkets and distributors on the US East Coast to receive fresh products within 24 to 36 hours after harvest. In this case, the harvest volume from one supplier exceeded the expected capacity during the peak season, prompting ACS to process an urgent transport request. Within two weeks, 440 tons of blueberries were transported.
Four B747-400F aircraft were used for the transport, each capable of carrying 110 tons of the fruit. There were several days between flights to optimize logistics. A team member from ACS accompanied the first aircraft to ensure that the entire process ran smoothly. Upon arrival, he coordinated with the warehouse to ensure that the cargo was properly unloaded and handed over to the trucks as quickly as possible.
The successful execution of this transport operation highlights ACS’s ability to find efficient solutions for air freight transport even in urgent situations.
