Feb 12, 2026 at 11:54 AMAir Atlanta is celebrating 40 years of aviation history this month. In February 1986, the airline took to the skies for the first time with a Boeing 707. The company’s beginnings are rooted in the Caribbean, where a second Boeing 707 soon joined the fleet.
The development of the Icelandic airline over the years is the result of the commitment, skills, and adaptability of its employees. The company has evolved into a global player in the aviation industry. Air Atlanta’s fleet history reflects this adaptability and includes iconic aircraft such as the Boeing 747, which has formed the backbone of the fleet since April 1993. Air Atlanta is one of the most significant operators of this legendary aircraft and has operated the 747 for over three decades.
Over the years, the airline has utilized a variety of aircraft, including the Boeing 737, the L1011 Tri-Star, and the Airbus models A330 and A340. Throughout its history, Air Atlanta has had the honor of operating on behalf of many renowned airlines and flag carriers.
Currently, Air Atlanta operates a fleet of Boeing 777s, supplemented by Boeing 747 freighters. The company reflects on its decades of experience and plans to continue responding to changing markets, seeking new opportunities, and integrating future developments in aviation.
Although technology and destinations have changed since 1986, Air Atlanta’s core values remain unchanged: safety, reliability, flexibility, and efficiency.
The company thanks its dedicated team, partners, and customers who have been part of this 40-year journey and looks forward to the coming decades with optimism.
