Kwong Ming succeeds Samuel Lee, who has now taken on the position of Managing Director for Taiwan. In his new role, Kwong Ming will lead the Central Asia Hub, which is one of DHL Express’s three key global hubs.
Kwong Ming has over 30 years of experience in express logistics and the operation of high-volume air freight centers. Throughout his career, he has held various senior positions in hub operations, network planning, automation technology, and process redesign. Most recently, he served as the Operations Head of the hub. His expertise in operational transformation and service delivery will be crucial for the next development phase of the hub.
Peter Bardens, SVP for Network Operations and Aviation in the Asia-Pacific region at DHL Express, emphasized the importance of the Central Asia Hub in the company’s global network. „The Central Asia Hub is one of the most critical nodes in our network, especially given the expanded airport capacities in Hong Kong and the ongoing increase in cross-border trade and e-commerce,“ said Bardens. He highlighted that Kwong Ming’s leadership experience and deep operational expertise will be essential to enhance the hub’s capabilities and support the long-term growth strategy in the region.
Strategic Role in the Asia-Pacific Region
The leadership change underscores DHL Express’s commitment to strengthening its strategic role in the Asia-Pacific region. This includes enhancing cross-border e-commerce capabilities, promoting regional connectivity, and increasing operational resilience to support global trade flows.
The Central Asia Hub is located at Hong Kong International Airport and serves as both a vital component of DHL Express’s global air transportation network and a significant contributor to Hong Kong’s position as one of the busiest freight hubs in the world. The hub will continue to serve as a connection between mainland China and global markets to enable faster and more efficient international trade and support the growth of businesses in the region.
Lee Kwong Ming stated, „As the demand for cross-border trade and timely delivery continues to rise in the region, the Central Asia Hub plays a vital role in ensuring the speed, reliability, and resilience that our customers worldwide rely on. I look forward to working with our outstanding team and partners to further enhance the operational capabilities of the hub and drive automation and innovation.“
