The Dubai Humanitarian organized a relief shipment of 91.6 tons to flood-affected communities in Maputo, Mozambique, on February 5, 2026. This action was carried out on the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai.
A Boeing 747F cargo plane operated by the Dubai Air Wing took off from Dubai on Thursday, transporting urgently needed relief supplies. The delivered materials included tarpaulins, kitchen sets, sleeping mats, blankets, emergency health kits, mosquito nets, and materials for the construction of prefabricated houses. These relief supplies were provided through the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (WFP–UNHRD) of the World Food Programme. The value of the shipment amounts to approximately 608,000 USD (2.23 million AED) and is intended to support more than 38,000 people affected by one of the worst floods in Mozambique’s history.
Commitment to Humanitarian Aid
Giuseppe Saba, CEO and board member of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized: “Guided by the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Humanitarian continues to act as a global center for emergency assistance. This air bridge demonstrates the strength of our partnerships and our ability to provide critical support to communities affected by various crises, which in this case are unfortunately caused by climate change.”
Walid Ibrahim, network coordinator of the UNHRD at the World Food Programme, expressed his gratitude to Dubai Humanitarian, the largest humanitarian center in the world, for mobilizing the aircraft provided by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “This important contribution enabled the WFP’s UNHRD to deliver life-saving relief supplies to tens of thousands of people severely affected by the floods. The WFP’s UNHRD values this partnership and remains committed to working with Dubai Humanitarian to ensure that essential aid reaches crisis-affected communities.”
The relief operation, whose air transport costs exceeded 1.1 million AED, underscores the role of Dubai Humanitarian as a global player in emergency assistance. Through strategic partnerships, top-notch infrastructure, and operational readiness, aid is provided quickly, efficiently, and on a large scale wherever crises occur.
