New freight connection from Fly Khiva
Feb 3, 2026 at 3:24 PMSuparna Airlines launched a new direct connection between Oslo Airport (OSL) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) on January 24. This connection will be operated with specialized cargo aircraft and enables weekly flights between the two cities. The new route represents the only direct connection from Oslo to Shanghai and could have significant implications for the Norwegian export economy.
Expansion of Export Capacities
The introduction of this cargo connection is seen as a positive step for the Norwegian export economy, particularly in the seafood sector. The new route offers increased capacity for the export of fresh Norwegian fish, which could strengthen Norway’s competitiveness as a seafood nation. Eva Beate Lande, cargo manager of the Norwegian airport operator Avinor, emphasizes the importance of the Chinese market: “China is an important and growing market for Norwegian seafood. With this route, we can offer an efficient and reliable transport solution that meets the demands for quality and delivery time.”
The direct cargo connection to Shanghai is part of a series of new cargo routes to Asia that have been established recently. These routes allow for faster and more predictable delivery of time-sensitive goods such as fresh salmon and other seafood.
Optimal Infrastructure for Export
Oslo Airport plays a central role in the Norwegian seafood export chain. The proximity to the production site and the existing infrastructure for cooling and handling services facilitate the transport of fresh products. Thus, the new connection could not only increase export capacities but also improve the efficiency of the entire supply chain.
