Jan 23, 2026 at 9:02 AMEmber LifeSciences has appointed Ann Hyllengren as Chief Financial Officer. This decision follows a successful funding round in which the company raised $16.5 million in a Series A round in December. In her new role, Hyllengren will strengthen the company’s leadership team and support the next phase of growth.
Clay Alexander, founder and CEO of Ember LifeSciences, commented positively on the appointment: “We are excited to welcome Ann at a critical stage of our development. She brings extensive experience in financial and operational leadership from one of the leading companies in the life sciences sector and will play a key role in developing and introducing new reliable and sustainable solutions for the cold chain in life sciences and beyond.”
Hyllengren comes from Amgen, where she gained nearly two decades of experience in global accounting and finance, capital planning, and investor relations. Most recently, she served as a senior executive in Amgen’s investor relations team, working closely with management to steer communication with capital markets and translate complex financial performance into a clear and compelling narrative for investors. She also held various senior finance positions at Amgen, including leading finance for the billion-dollar U.S. General Medicine business unit, where she provided strategic insights on product strategy, resource allocation, and profitability.
“I am excited to be part of a team that is working to solve one of the most costly challenges in healthcare, with a clear focus on sustainability and improving patient outcomes,” said Ann Hyllengren. “Ember has the potential to make a disruptive and positive impact on the life sciences supply chain, and I look forward to supporting the company’s operational growth and market expansion.”
The global pharmaceutical cold chain ecosystem faces annual financial losses of $35 billion due to temperature deviations. Ember LifeSciences addresses this challenge with the Ember Cube, an innovative digital shipping box that offers cloud-based temperature reporting, GPS location tracking, and sustainable return technology.
Prior to her time at Amgen, Hyllengren worked in external reporting at Dole Food Company and began her career in auditing and consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Additionally, she has been active as an instructor at Moorpark College and the University of La Verne. Hyllengren is a certified public accountant and holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern California as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
