“Riyadh Cargo” launches freight operations
Jan 22, 2026 at 8:34 AMChangi Airport in Singapore recorded strong growth in the air freight sector in 2025, while passenger numbers also increased. According to airport data, nearly 70 million passengers were processed. Air freight reached a volume of 2.08 million tons, representing a 4.5% increase compared to the previous year. These figures mark one of the best performances in the freight sector for the airport.
The growth in the freight sector was noted in both exports and imports, as well as in transshipment activities. Particularly in the first three quarters of the year, there was heightened activity supported by sustained demand from the semiconductor, artificial intelligence, electric vehicle, and cleantech sectors.
China remains the largest and fastest-growing freight market for Changi, followed by the USA and Taiwan. The expansion of the network also contributed to the increase in freight flows. New freight services were introduced by JD Airlines from Shenzhen, the return of Istanbul services by Turkish Cargo, and increased capacity from FedEx Express, which connects Singapore nonstop with Anchorage.
Changi Airport emphasizes that these results underscore the airport’s role as a key air freight hub in Asia, despite the ongoing volatility of global trade conditions.
