Jan 21, 2026 at 12:05 PMMarieta Grigorova, who has been steering Gebrüder Weiss in Bulgaria since the company’s market entry in 1993, is retiring. Her successor, Lyudmil Elshishki, took over the responsibility for the Bulgarian national organization on January 1, 2026. Grigorova has significantly contributed to the development of the company throughout her long career.
In the 32 years under her leadership, the Sofia location has evolved from a small transshipment point to a central logistics hub for international transport. Additionally, two more logistics centers were opened in Plovdiv and Varna, and the service offering has been continuously expanded, including the introduction of Home Delivery for private customers. Today, Gebrüder Weiss employs around 160 people in Bulgaria and serves customers from various industries, including automotive, IT, and consumer goods.
New Managing Director with International Experience
Lyudmil Elshishki brings over 15 years of experience in the logistics industry. Before his new position, he was involved in the management of a global logistics company, where he led strategic projects in 14 countries and expanded the retail network. At Gebrüder Weiss, Elshishki plans to continue the national organization stably and to set new impulses, particularly in the areas of international transport services and logistics solutions for the automotive and heavy industries.
Bulgaria is increasingly gaining importance as a hub for transport to the Black Sea region and Central Asia. Elshishki sees opportunities in this development for the company to further strengthen its market position. Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss, praised Grigorova’s achievements and emphasized that she has led the company with foresight and commitment through three decades of dynamic expansion.
