The Rhenus Group has acquired its first own rail terminal in Kazakhstan. The terminal is located in the Almaty region and operates under the name „QAZContargo Almaty Ltd.“ It offers various services, including container depot solutions, customs warehouse services, and the handling of block trains. This investment aims to strengthen domestic logistics along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and increase regional capacity for container handling, as the company reports.
Strategic Investment in Central Asia
With the acquisition of the terminal, the Rhenus Group is pursuing an approach to develop integrated logistics infrastructures in Central Asia. The terminal at the Bayserke railway station provides direct access to national and international rail networks, facilitating the handling of import, export, and transit volumes between China, Europe, and Central Asia. The operational responsibility for the site will be taken over by the Contargo Group, a partner of the Rhenus Group.
