Jan 19, 2026 at 10:59 AMInternational Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has advanced the construction of the South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT) in Bauan, Batangas. The commissioning is planned for the year 2028. With an investment volume of 800 million USD, the project will be implemented in several phases over a period of two years and is expected to become one of the largest container hubs in the country for the Calabarzon region, as the company reports.
Capacity Expansion
The new terminal is expected to add an annual capacity of up to two million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU) to the ICTSI network once it is fully operational. By expanding capacity near production and export centers, the project aims to reduce turnaround times and expand options for shippers.
The site, which currently operates as Bauan International Port and is primarily used for roll-on/roll-off transport of fully assembled units, will be transformed into a container terminal. This terminal will be capable of servicing ultra-large container ships. The SLCT will feature a water depth of up to 18 meters.
