“Maersk Denver” passes Bab el-Mandeb
Jan 13, 2026 at 10:36 AMToyota Motor Europe (TME) has reduced its Scope 3 emissions by more than 22,000 tons of CO2e over the past year. This was achieved through the use of low-carbon fuels as part of the „Sail for Change“ program by United European Car Carriers (UECC), the company reports. The reduction of 22,148 tons of CO2e corresponds to the climate effect that could be achieved by the growth of 366,215 tree seedlings over a period of ten years, according to the company. These savings were realized through the transport of 54,991 vehicles on UECC ships from August to December 2024, it continues.
Validation of Emission Savings
The savings were verified by the independent third party „EnviroSense“ and validated as compliant with the EU sustainability criteria for the procurement of maritime fuels according to the „RED II Directive.“ These criteria include agricultural biomass as well as biogenic waste and residues to substantiate TME’s CO2 footprint. The confirmation of the emission savings was recently presented by Per Christian Mørk, Chief Operating Officer of UECC, to Jean Christophe Deville, Vice President Supply Chain of TME, and to Rosemary Lister, Head of Raw Material, Indirect and Logistics Purchasing, at TME’s headquarters in Brussels.
