Jan 13, 2026 at 9:19 AMThe construction work for the „BlueTechPort“ at the Port of Barcelona has officially begun. This new innovation space for the blue economy aims to transform the Sant Bertran sheds and the entire port into a center for applied innovation in Europe, as recently announced by the port authority. An investment volume of 60 million euros is to be allocated for the project, which is expected to provide an area of 25,000 m² for companies and organizations in the blue economy by 2028. It is planned that around 2,500 professionals will be able to work there.
Innovation Ecosystem in the Port
The BlueTechPort will not only function as a building but as a central component of an ecosystem that extends beyond the Sant Bertran sheds. The goal is to transform the entire port area of Barcelona into a testing ground for innovations related to the port sector and the blue economy. Currently, 22 companies are active in the BlueTechPort, located in Pier01 at Tech Barcelona. Additionally, the first warehouse in the Sant Bertran sheds is set to open by autumn.
