10th KV Congress of SGKV in Times of Turbulence
Nov 20, 2025 at 12:26 PMThe Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL) is expanding its areas at the Central HUB in Homberg: With a new truck access, 50 additional trailer parking spaces, and digitized processes, the piece goods network is responding to the growing order volume and increasing demands for efficient supply chains. Thanks to the area expansion, partners benefit from faster processes during loading and unloading on the HUB premises.
(Homberg/Efze) The expansions also serve as preparation for a dedicated charging infrastructure for electric trucks and are expected to be completed by spring 2026. “Efficiency in loading and unloading does not begin at the ramp, but in the yard – with clear processes, short distances, and a well-thought-out infrastructure,” says Francesco De Lauso, CEO of CTL AG. The expansion of the site area at the Central HUB is necessary to meet its own growth and further develop logistics processes in Homberg. “By continuously optimizing the handling of goods on our premises, we remain reliable and future-oriented, as our partners expect from us,” De Lauso adds.
Successful Pilot Project: Truck ‘Fastlane’ Increases Efficiency
Currently, the piece goods network is testing a fully digital gate management system: Trucks register while approaching, receive their gate or parking space in advance, and can enter the premises without interruption. “The ‘Fastlane’ procedure allows for direct passage through license plate recognition and significantly reduces waiting times and manual process steps,” says De Lauso. The pilot project is progressing successfully, but is currently only limited in use due to the existing access. “With the expansion of our premises, we will be able to integrate significantly more vehicles efficiently and seamlessly into site operations in the future,” De Lauso summarizes.
In combination with the new trailer parking spaces near the hall, the distances will be shorter and yard management more efficient. “The turnaround times for moving trailers will be shortened, and the loading of the unloading gates will also be accelerated,” says De Lauso. This overall increases the speed of goods handling – a crucial factor in meeting the growing demands in the piece goods market.
Construction Start Prepared: Completion by Spring 2026
Preparations for the expansion have already begun. Abraham Garcia Martinez, CFO of CTL AG, emphasizes: “We are ready to go: The approval from the supervisory board is in place, and the building application has been submitted.” The investment in the mid-seven-figure range will be fully financed from its own liquidity. The tender for the construction is already underway. “We are confident that construction work will begin later this year and that we can successfully complete the project by spring 2026,” Garcia Martinez adds.
Expansion Enables Charging Park for Electric Trucks
The area expansion not only optimizes processes on the premises but also lays the foundation for another forward-looking construction project by CTL: a dedicated charging park for electric trucks. The power allocation of 2.5 megawatts from the local grid operator is already in place. “With the expansion of our site, we are now concretely starting the planning of our own charging infrastructure, taking an important step towards more sustainable logistics processes,” says Garcia Martinez.
