European Parliament Strengthens EMSA for Safe Maritime Traffic
Nov 14, 2025 at 6:59 PMThe Fiege Group began construction on its new logistics center in Hessisch Lichtenau in October. The state-of-the-art property, scheduled for completion in autumn 2026, will feature nearly 52,000 square meters of logistics space spread across five hall buildings, as well as additional office and social areas. The construction project is being realized by Fiege Real Estate.
(Greven/Hessisch Lichtenau) As the anchor customer of the logistics center, Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, the European subsidiary of the Japanese tire manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI), is continuing its growth trajectory in Europe from the heart of Germany.
Stephan Stenger, Head of Supply Chain & Operations at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, says: “With the new location in Hessisch Lichtenau, we are consistently continuing our expansion course. The site is another important milestone in our Europe-wide logistics strategy and the basis for further expanding our logistics. Last but not least, it underscores the strength of our partnership with Fiege, which has lasted for more than 15 years.”
Christian Thiemann, Managing Director of the Fiege business unit Tires, explains: “We are very grateful for the trust of our long-standing customer Falken and are pleased that we can continue to write our joint success story and expand it with our future location in Hessisch Lichtenau. The new logistics center fits perfectly into our existing location network thanks to its good location and connection to the A44 and will help us as a service provider to offer Falken even more efficient, flexible, and scalable logistics solutions.”
In planning and developing the EU taxonomy-compliant logistics center, Fiege places a special focus on sustainability and aims for a Gold certification (version 2023) from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The new location of the over 150-year-old family business will feature resource-saving mineral wool insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting.
Monitoring Tools for Optimized Energy Consumption
Heating will be managed by air-to-air heat pumps. The electricity required for this will be largely generated by a photovoltaic system on the roof, which will provide a total output of 3,000 kilowatt peak. In addition, an automated building management system and smart monitoring tools will ensure optimized energy consumption of the logistics center, and a location-specific biodiversity concept has been developed.
