Reber Awarded the “Grand Prize of Medium-Sized Businesses”
Oct 2, 2025 at 3:56 PMA piece of industrial history is being revitalized: Panattoni, Germany’s largest developer of logistics and industrial real estate, is launching another revitalization project. The Panattoni Park Nuremberg will be built on the site of the former thyssenkrupp Materials Services GmbH in Nuremberg by 2027. The modern industrial and logistics property will be developed according to the highest sustainability standards and is characterized by its city-center location and excellent transport connections.
(Hamburg/Nuremberg) With the acquisition of the site at Dieselstraße 55 in Nuremberg, Panattoni continues its series of brownfield developments. The approximately 33,000 m² plot was previously used for logistics and production purposes and is to be repurposed for a new, sustainable use after the planned demolition starting in 2026. The completion of the Panattoni Park Nuremberg is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
The facility comprises around 22,200 m² of total rental space, including 18,990 m² of logistics space, 1,320 m² of office space, and 1,890 m² of mezzanine. The building complex consists of three units of variable sizes that can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of different industries. Potential users from the areas of e-commerce, light industrial, last mile, and logistics will thus receive a space solution tailored to their needs. A total of 63 parking spaces will be created.
The project aims for at least a DGNB Gold certification. Planned features include photovoltaic systems, smart metering, an air-water heat pump, rain and wastewater utilization, and e-charging infrastructure. Additionally, 9,000 m² of green roof areas, facade greening, nesting boxes, and beehives contribute to the ecological quality of the site. Measures such as wellbeing areas and barrier-free facilities emphasize the focus on user-friendliness and employee well-being.
Attractive Location in a Strong Economic Region
The Panattoni Park Nuremberg scores with its central, urban location and excellent transport connections: The A73 motorway is only about 2 km away via the Nuremberg-East interchange, with further connections to the A6 (10 km), A3 (15 km), and A9 (16 km). Munich International Airport is reachable within 155 km; there is also a direct connection to public transport to Nuremberg city center. The Nuremberg metropolitan region is one of the ten strongest economic regions in Germany and is home to renowned companies such as Siemens, Adidas, Puma, and Bosch.
“With the Panattoni Park Nuremberg, we are realizing another important revitalization project in the urban area. The quick acquisition of the site and the close cooperation with the city of Nuremberg demonstrate how quickly sustainable developments can be initiated. We are pleased to contribute to strengthening the economic location with the redevelopment of the former thyssenkrupp site and to set the course for modern use,” explains Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria.
The city of Nuremberg also supports the development. Nuremberg’s Economic and Science Officer Dr. Andrea Heilmaier says: “The flexible logistics and industrial units being created expand Nuremberg’s space potential for future-oriented production and modern city logistics concepts. At the same time, the Dieselstraße-Hansastraße industrial area, home to many renowned companies and specialized service providers, is being upgraded.”
The Seller is thyssenkrupp Materials
The seller of the site is thyssenkrupp Materials Services GmbH. The areas will remain with thyssenkrupp Schulte GmbH under a sale-and-lease-back agreement until June 2026. Subsequently, Panattoni will begin the demolition and realization of the new building.
