Maritime Routes from China via the Arctic to Northern Europe
Sep 19, 2025 at 7:05 PMOn September 18, the EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) handled its millionth sea freight container this year. This marks the first time that the annual throughput has exceeded the million mark. The anniversary container comes from China and contains machine parts for the agricultural industry. It was transported on behalf of Gebrüder Weiss by the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd. All three companies have maintained a close and trusting partnership for many years.
Holger Bomm, Managing Director of the EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven, said on the occasion of the anniversary: “We are happy and very proud to have surpassed the million mark. Thanks to the partnership with Hapag-Lloyd and our other customers, the CTW can finally demonstrate its full performance capabilities.”
The CTW is a central transshipment point in the global transport network of Gebrüder Weiss. From Wilhelmshaven, the logistics provider organizes the onward transport of overseas goods as full or consolidated cargo (LCL) within Germany and to Austria, mostly by rail. “We are very pleased to be the client of the anniversary container. Wilhelmshaven is of great importance to us and our customers due to its direct connection to the Far East as well as the fast processing and availability of goods,” says Christian Frölich, Branch Manager of Gebrüder Weiss in Bremen.
