Swiss Post Reports Revenue Decline in First Half of 2025
Aug 24, 2025 at 7:50 PMAs of August 26, the Austrian Post will no longer accept shipments containing goods for the USA (including Puerto Rico) until further notice. The last day for dispatch is therefore Monday, August 25. The reason for this is changes in customs regulations in the USA. The rule allowing goods valued under 800 US dollars to be imported into the USA duty- and tax-free has been abolished.
(Wien) At the same time, the processes for postal customs clearance have been changed, and there is currently insufficient information about the customs clearance procedures that will be necessary in the future. This tightening poses significant challenges for all postal companies worldwide when shipping goods to the USA.
Exempt from this regulation are gift shipments from private individuals valued under 100 US dollars, which are also marked as gifts; the Austrian Post will continue to accept these shipments for dispatch to the USA until further notice. Document shipments are not affected by these regulations and can be sent to the USA as usual via the Austrian Post.
Exception: “Post Express International”
As the only current option, customers can still send other goods shipments to the USA using the product “Post Express International,” as these shipments are subject to a different type of clearance.
