Dekra Takes Majority Stake in Digital Company Spearhead
Jul 17, 2025 at 4:36 PMThe Berlin-based consulting company ME3 for electromobility has published a free guide for the logistics industry in cooperation with the East Frisian freight forwarder Nanno Janssen. The white paper “Sustainability as a Competitive Advantage: Electromobility for Shippers and Transport Clients” specifically addresses strategic decision-makers and operational managers of shippers, who are significantly affected by the ongoing mobility transition as a central link in the logistics chain.
(Berlin/Leer) The new white paper outlines the current situation and provides practical information and recommendations for action to help manufacturers, wholesalers, and depot operators, with or without their own fleets, position themselves competitively for the future. It extensively discusses the current market situation, the use of electric trucks, the establishment of depot charging infrastructure, as well as funding and regulations, using text and graphics. Special attention is given to the CO₂ tax and the upcoming emissions trading system EUETS 2, which is currently a concern for the industry and will continue to be. The conclusion includes concrete recommendations for action and a best practice example from the freight forwarder Nanno Janssen, which has made a name for itself as an electric pioneer through the consistent use of electric trucks and provides an exciting practical perspective.
Growing Regulatory Pressure
Dr. Christian Milan, founder and managing director of M3E GmbH, explains: “For shippers, there is no way around electromobility anymore. Given dynamic market developments and high political volatility, decision-makers today must master the balancing act between flexible structures and long-term strategic decisions. Growing regulatory pressure, along with continuously rising fuel prices and toll costs, is making transport with conventional diesel trucks more expensive and increasingly positioning electric trucks as an economically viable and, looking to the future, an indispensable option.”
The mobility transition in the transport sector also requires a rethink of established market processes, such as pricing in tenders, which usually orient themselves to diesel prices and disadvantage electric supply chains. However, as the freight forwarder Nanno Janssen demonstrates, negotiations with transport clients can focus on fixed-price agreements – and can now actually cover almost all operational scenarios.
E-Mobility in Long-Distance Transport
The use of electric trucks is not only possible and sensible in local and regional transport, as confirmed by Nanno Janssen, Chief Strategy Officer of Nanno Janssen GmbH: “We also use our growing electric fleet in regular long-distance transport. With a mix of our own depot charging and the use of public charging infrastructure on our well-planned routes, this is no longer a problem. The legal rest periods are utilized for charging, resulting in hardly any time losses compared to diesel. Our electric trucks have already completed tours not only to the Benelux countries, Denmark, and Sweden, but also without problems to Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, and the UK. The trips are not only more environmentally friendly but also less stressful for our drivers, who greatly benefit from the comfort of electric trucks and do not want to switch back.”
