Jul 15, 2025 at 4:22 PMLufthansa Cargo is beginning the development of an innovative Virtual Reality (VR) training program for Aircraft Loading Supervisors, once again setting standards in the air freight industry. With this forward-looking training method, the company is establishing new benchmarks in the training of ground staff and reinforcing its position as an innovation leader in the logistics sector.
(Frankfurt) The VR training is designed to prepare employees realistically for their tasks in aircraft handling – flexibly, safely, and independently of operational processes. In a virtual environment, procedures, safety regulations, and communication can be practiced intensively. The immersive nature of VR technology allows for a deeper understanding of the learning content and sustainably promotes practical comprehension of the processes. Additionally, the learning content is internalized significantly faster, as trainees can focus better on the material.
“With this project, we are not only enhancing the qualifications of our Aircraft Loading Supervisors but also reinforcing our role as an innovation driver in the industry. This technology enables us to train our employees in a practical manner while ensuring the highest safety and efficiency standards,” said Momo Ruzic, Station Manager Frankfurt at Lufthansa Cargo.
Rollout in October 2025
The rollout of the first module of the training is scheduled for October 2025. As one of the first companies in the air freight industry, Lufthansa Cargo is leveraging this innovative technology for the training of Aircraft Loading Supervisors, thereby underscoring its commitment to being a pioneer in digital solutions and training methods. The use of VR not only offers a cost-effective and flexible training option but also provides an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional training methods, as fewer physical resources are needed and the learning content can be delivered consistently at a high quality.
