Jun 11, 2025 at 5:23 PMThe smart platform for berth planning, heyport, has been successfully implemented at all five terminals of Marsa Maroc in the Port of Casablanca. From now on, heyport will optimize ship arrival and resource planning there. By centralizing important planning processes, the platform increases efficiency, transparency, and collaboration among all stakeholders.
(Hamburg/Casablanca) Until now, the planning of terminal operations was characterized by manual coordination, fragmented data, and limited real-time insights into ship arrivals. heyport addresses these challenges with precise, up-to-date planning data – including satellite-based ship tracking, weather and tide forecasts, as well as automatic schedule synchronization with over 150 shipping lines. The seamless integration into Marsa Maroc’s Terminal Operating System (TOS) and the local Port Community System reduces manual effort and minimizes sources of error.
In addition to simplifying operational processes, heyport also improves resource planning, such as through accurate allocation of cranes and workgroups, leading to reduced berth times. The platform also enables cross-location real-time collaboration between terminals, port authorities, and external partners – even across multiple ports. The system is particularly valuable for short-term changes, which can now be handled efficiently and flexibly. The implementation took only twelve weeks – from project start to full live operation.
Jan Cantow, Co-Founder of heyport: “We are very proud to support Marsa Maroc on the path to a smarter and more sustainable terminal operation. The rapid implementation and the immediate efficiency gains demonstrate the strength of digital collaboration and the high adaptability of the Marsa Maroc team. We look forward to further optimizing port logistics in Casablanca – and beyond.”
The results speak for themselves: According to analyses from the Port of Hamburg and studies by the IMO, CO₂ emissions can be reduced by up to 14 percent thanks to just-in-time arrivals – a significant contribution to more sustainable shipping. At the same time, manual communication efforts have been reduced by 90 percent, allowing employees to focus more on strategic tasks. For each ship arrival, 180 minutes are now saved in planning and coordination – a noticeable gain in efficiency.
Amine Boulif, Head of Operations at Marsa Maroc Container Terminals Casablanca: “The introduction of heyport marks a milestone for our operation. Our teams can now access reliable real-time data and carry out their planning with high precision. The platform helps us minimize berth times, reduce emissions, and provide even better service to our customers.”
