MBS Logistics Acquires Gerhard Wegmüller GmbH in Zurich
May 22, 2025 at 7:22 AMLogistikbude GmbH emphasizes its expertise in the transport sector and collaborates with Niedermaier Spedition GmbH and Spedition Knecht GmbH. Both companies are now relying on the web-based solution from the Dortmund start-up to optimize their load carrier management.
(Dortmund/Landau an der Isar/Rudersberg) While Niedermaier Spedition now processes all exchange transactions digitally, Spedition Knecht uses the software to precisely track the whereabouts of their special frames for transporting glass elements and to fully automate load carrier management. With these new partnerships, Logistikbude strengthens its strategic focus on traditional transport companies.
“We are very pleased to welcome two established medium-sized freight forwarders as partners. With our software, we support them in automating processes and thus improving the cumbersome management of load carriers in a practical and targeted manner,” says Dr. Philipp Hüning, CEO and co-founder of Logistikbude GmbH. The eponymous software from the Dortmund start-up digitizes and automates load carrier management, enabling real-time tracking of pallets, containers, and frames. The partnerships with Niedermaier and Knecht mark an important step in the strategic orientation towards the transport sector. “In both projects, we are jointly creating more transparency, reducing costs, and ensuring a more efficient use of resources,” summarizes Hüning.
From Paper to Digital: Transparent Processes Instead of Traditional Receipts
Niedermaier Spedition GmbH, based in Landau, offers a wide range of logistics solutions – from traditional transport and contract logistics to consulting services. To make processes in load carrier management more transparent, the company relies on Logistikbude. In the eponymous application, all load carriers and exchange transactions are now centrally and digitally represented. Once a month, the software automatically sends a web link to all 250 exchange partners, allowing them to view the stocks. At the same time, they are reminded to settle the exchange accounts in a timely manner. Anja Bachmeier, head of load carrier management at Niedermaier and responsible for implementing the new solution, says: “Thanks to Logistikbude, the sending of receipts is no longer necessary, allowing us to use our personnel resources more effectively while significantly reducing paper consumption.” The freight forwarder is currently still in the testing phase of the solution. The implementation is expected to be completed by summer.
Automated Management of Expensive Special Frames – Without Personnel Effort
Another new partner of Logistikbude is Spedition Knecht GmbH, based in Rudersberg near Stuttgart. It specializes in the transport of window and glass elements for the construction industry. Through the cooperation with the Dortmund load carrier experts, the freight forwarder aims to reduce loss rates and the unauthorized use of their high-quality frames. Dietmar Wiedmann, managing director of Spedition Knecht, explains: “In Logistikbude’s software, we can track the location of each individual frame and whether it has been returned – this greatly increases transparency. This is crucial for us because the frames are custom-made and may need to be reproduced, costing up to 1,000 euros each.”
With the help of the Logistikbude app, the drivers of the freight forwarder scan the glass elements during pickup and delivery at the construction site – making their whereabouts digitally traceable with a single action. “Our goal is to fully automate load carrier management so that no one has to take care of it manually anymore. The software automatically sends a warning if the frames are not returned – and in the final step, it issues an automated fee if the agreed rental period is exceeded,” says Wiedmann. Additionally, the app allows photos to be taken to document the condition of the returned frames and any possible damage. “In this way, Logistikbude promotes responsible handling of load carriers,” adds Wiedmann. Currently, the freight forwarder is testing the new processes together with one of its clients based on a fixed load carrier pool. However, the delivery area is expected to be expanded, and the quantity gradually increased, so that up to 4,000 frames can be managed with Logistikbude.
Strategic Development in the Transport Sector
Through successful collaborations – such as with the Nagel Group, where all load carriers are managed using Logistikbude at over 130 locations – the start-up has already established itself in the transport sector. In addition to existing partnerships, the young company is also focusing on small and medium-sized freight forwarders. “Especially in the transport and logistics industry, where load carrier management is particularly challenging due to the core business, there is a need for an efficient digital solution to relieve employees – and we can provide exactly that,” explains Hüning.
To meet the needs of freight forwarding clients, the software solution is continuously adapted and optimized. Recently, for example, account statements from exchange partners can be uploaded directly to the platform, regardless of the file format. The software automatically processes the files and reconciles them with its own bookings, eliminating manual effort.
