Study: Only 8-10 Percent of the Global Warehouse Industry is Automated
May 6, 2025 at 6:51 PMThe booking platform for truck services TRAVIS and the technology company MANSIO are entering into a partnership. As of May 1, 2025, hundreds of new swap areas for encounter traffic from MANSIO are available. Thanks to the technical interface between the systems, all relevant information about the parking spaces is available in real-time within the MANSIO environment.
(Aachen) A crucial success factor for the practical implementation of encounter traffic is the appropriate infrastructure – especially suitable locations for trailer swaps. TRAVIS maintains over 650 strategically located parking spaces with its European truck parking network. Most of these will now also be available for the MANSIO service.
“The integration allows transport companies access to a larger network of high-quality truck parking spaces. With the higher density of swap points, our encounter traffic can be planned and implemented even more efficiently without detours,” states Dr. Maik Schürmeyer, founder and managing director of MANSIO, highlighting the benefits.
Through a technical interface between the systems of MANSIO and TRAVIS, all relevant information about the parking spaces is available in real-time within the MANSIO environment. Based on this, an algorithm can dynamically determine the optimal location for the trailer swap. For Max Zillinger, Business Development Manager at TRAVIS, the solution has high potential: “In the digitally supported encounter traffic, we see a central innovation for greater efficiency and sustainability in road freight transport. We are pleased to support this concept with our infrastructure and smart booking technology.”
Both companies are creating more attractive working conditions for truck drivers. The high-quality parking locations from TRAVIS contribute to a better working environment for drivers. Many locations offer sanitary facilities, showers, and additional services such as truck washes – making every swap break a more pleasant and practical interruption.
Driver Returns Home After Shift
The concept of encounter traffic fundamentally changes the organization of long-distance transport. Instead of a truck driver covering the entire distance alone, the trailers are handed over from one transport company to the next. This keeps the goods in motion while the driver returns to their home location after each shift. This makes transport faster and safer and allows the profession to be better reconciled with family life.
