May 6, 2025 at 6:06 PMThe Ports and Goods Transport Cologne AG (HGK) is the first German port company to join the international “Platform Zero Incidents” (PZI) as a stakeholder. The safety initiative aims for the highest standards in inland shipping and seeks to significantly reduce critical events such as workplace accidents.
(Köln) With its commitment to “Zero Incidents”, the HGK Group emphasizes its dedication to sustainable and safe logistics processes. PZI has been in existence for nine years. The predecessor organization of HGK Shipping became a member of PZI shortly after its founding, and now the entire HGK Group is involved. The initiative connects European ports and shipping companies to analyze safety-related incidents. Incidents are shared, prevention procedures are developed, and recommendations for action are created to reduce the risk of accidents in ports and inland shipping.
Safety is the Top Priority
The partnership includes, among other things, a database where incidents and near-misses are collected to avoid repetitions through exchange and best practices. Quarterly meetings and conferences are held, where expert presentations are given and exchanges are maintained. “The safety of our employees, partners, and the environment is our top priority. We look forward to collaborating with PZI,” explains Janine Niederlehner from the HGK port authority.
