Apr 13, 2025 at 5:29 PMThe transport management platform Transporeon, with one of the largest logistics networks in Europe, announced a significant expansion of its Freight Marketplace solution today. The company is introducing new features specifically designed for the spot freight market between shippers and carriers, marking Transporeon’s strategic entry into the traditional segment of freight exchanges.
(Ulm) While Transporeon’s platform has long facilitated connections within the extensive network, this expansion directly targets the dynamics between shippers seeking reliable capacities and carriers looking for spot loads. It offers a modern and efficient alternative to established freight exchanges, leveraging Transporeon’s technological foundation and large user base.
This enhanced Freight Marketplace functionality addresses common weaknesses of the spot market. It introduces a disruptive pricing model: free access for shippers posting shipments and a flat, low monthly fee of €100 for carriers, regardless of company size or number of users. This typically results in an average cost reduction of 50% compared to other established platforms.
Support Through AI
The expanded Freight Marketplace has been developed with modern technology, based on Transporeon’s extensive industry knowledge, and features an intuitive user interface. Key innovations include:
- AI-powered verification: Automated checks of provider identity and insurance details replace lengthy manual processes, ensuring greater speed and accuracy.
- Integrated negotiation: Price negotiations occur directly on the platform and are enhanced by access to anonymized market price benchmarks and trends, eliminating inefficient offline haggling.
“This is a strategic advancement for Transporeon that leverages the capabilities of our platform and network,” said Jonah McIntire, Chief Platform Officer at Transporeon. “We are now expanding our proven capabilities to specifically serve the spot market for shippers and carriers, a segment that deserves modernization and lower prices. We are introducing a significantly more cost-effective, efficient, and transparent solution that utilizes AI and integrated negotiations to fundamentally improve how shippers and carriers connect and conduct spot transactions.”
The introduction of these new features follows significant market interest. Ten leading shippers are already actively using the Freight Marketplace for their spot freight needs and are migrating volumes that were previously handled through other freight exchanges. Thousands of carriers have signed up for a waiting list and will gain live access to these new shipper-tailored features in April 2025.
Always Seeking Innovative Solutions
“As a leading logistics service provider, we are always looking for innovative solutions that increase efficiency and transparency in the spot freight market,” says Markus Fürlinger, Chief Information Officer at Gartner KG. “Transporeon’s Freight Marketplace offers a compelling way to streamline our operations and represents a modern, cost-effective alternative to traditional freight exchanges. With the intuitive user interface, integrated negotiation tools, and AI-powered verification of carriers, we see great potential in this technology to enhance our connections with reliable carriers and manage our spot freight needs.”
Ushering in a New Phase
The expansion of the Transporeon Freight Marketplace into the segment of shippers and carriers marks the beginning of a new phase for the European spot market for road transport, leading to greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility based on a trusted, extensive network.
