Fraport Hosts Cargo Roadshow in India
Apr 8, 2025 at 6:05 PMTogether with Kassow Robots, a subsidiary of Bosch Rexroth, the high-tech company CeiliX presents the prototype of the world’s first mobile Cobot that can move freely in all directions on the ceiling. This groundbreaking solution, developed as part of a joint innovation program with Bosch-Rexroth, opens up a completely new dimension of automation: a fully automated, flexible ceiling robot.
(Euskirchen) The benefits for industry and logistics are manifold. Thanks to the innovative rail system on the hall ceiling, the Cobot can access various work areas within the company. Instead of being limited to a fixed position and a predefined travel path, it now moves freely in space – but from above. This creates crucial space on the hall floor: companies can utilize up to 50 percent more space for other processes.
“Until now, Cobots were generally restricted to fixed stations, linear rail axes, or ground vehicles. With our approach, we are opening up entirely new possibilities for transport, assembly, and handling processes,” explains Mathias Entenmann, CEO and co-founder of CeiliX. “Thanks to our technology, the ceiling becomes the new level for efficient, flexible, and space-saving robotics. We are freeing automation from previous spatial constraints.”
In addition to space savings, the mobile ceiling Cobot offers a significant increase in safety. Since it operates on the ceiling, collisions with forklifts, autonomous mobile Cobots, or employees are avoided. Traffic routes and escape areas remain clear, greatly simplifying the coordination of internal processes.
First time before an international professional audience
The next opportunity to experience the ceiling Cobot live will be in May at Automate 2025 in Detroit, where it will be presented to an international professional audience for the first time.
