Mar 18, 2025 at 6:39 PMThe MOSOLF Group, one of the leading system service providers for automotive logistics, will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2025. Since its founding on March 15, 1955, the family-owned company has evolved from a regional vehicle transporter to an internationally operating technology and logistics service provider for the global automotive industry. With a clear focus on innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation, MOSOLF is today setting the course for a successful future.
(Kirchheim unter Teck) The success story of the MOSOLF Group began seven decades ago as a family business with a single car transporter. Early on, founder Horst Mosolf recognized the growing importance of efficient vehicle logistics and continuously expanded his network. In the 1970s and 1980s, expansion occurred within Germany, while the 1990s saw the establishment of initial international connections and a significant expansion of the logistics network. With the beginning of the new millennium, MOSOLF increasingly focused on digitalization, further developed technical services, and established itself as a comprehensive system service provider for the automotive industry.
In the past two years, MOSOLF has strategically expanded its business areas and invested in more sustainable and strategically significant infrastructure projects. In 2022, a dedicated sustainability department was established, and in 2024, MOSOLF Renewable Energies GmbH was founded to drive the transformation process in line with the energy transition. A central element of this development is the establishment of its own energy generation facilities, such as photovoltaic systems on large parking lot canopies at logistics locations, contributing to sustainable energy supply. At the same time, MOSOLF is focusing on the decarbonization of vehicle logistics and is gradually replacing its fleet with fully electric car transporters and multimodal transport solutions like the hybrid-powered inland vessel TERRA 2, which aims to reduce emissions in the long term.
To consolidate the expanded business areas, a restructuring of the business units into the areas of “Logistics & Services” and “Special Vehicles” took place at the beginning of 2024. While “Logistics & Services” encompasses the core business of vehicle logistics, technical services, and innovative transport and storage solutions, “Special Vehicles” focuses on the development, conversion, and manufacturing of special vehicles for various applications. In addition to special solutions for commercial vehicles, municipal emergency vehicles, and industrial fleets, the portfolio also includes armored vehicles for security authorities and special forces. With the acquisition of STOOF International GmbH on March 31, 2025, MOSOLF is strengthening this area and further expanding its services as a capable partner for individual mobility solutions.
Expansion of the Port Logistics Strategy
In parallel, the port logistics strategy has been consistently expanded. With the establishment of MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services GmbH, central port locations in Wilhelmshaven, Cuxhaven, and Zeebrugge, as well as the representation in Shanghai, were consolidated under one roof in 2024. This restructuring not only optimized existing processes but also strengthened MOSOLF’s position as an internationally operating logistics service provider with a broad maritime infrastructure. An important milestone in this development was the acquisition of Transport Overseas Group at the beginning of this year. With the integration of the international logistics company, the MOSOLF Group was able to expand its project, sea transport, and port logistics services and leverage synergies with existing business areas. This also includes the re-establishment of TO Koper and the recently concluded joint venture in Saudi Arabia, where MOSOLF is creating a powerful infrastructure for international automobile manufacturers through the establishment of modern logistics centers in the region.
“MOSOLF has been, is, and will remain a company that sees change as an opportunity. Over the past 70 years, we have continually reinvented ourselves and faced the challenges of the industry. Today, we focus on more sustainable logistics, digital processes, and international expansion to provide our customers with the best solutions,” explains Dr. Jörg Mosolf, Chairman of the Board of the MOSOLF Group.
Continuing to Expand Broadly
The strategic decisions and partnerships underscore MOSOLF’s commitment to exploring new global markets while simultaneously making regional value chains more sustainable. Looking to the future, MOSOLF aims to continue expanding broadly to stand on a stable foundation for the growing challenges ahead.
