Mar 4, 2025 at 7:43 PMHyster announces an expanded range of powerful electric forklifts. These can be configured for a variety of heavy-duty applications. The Hyster® J10-18XD series is equipped with an integrated lithium-ion battery. It provides the performance required in demanding environments with robust reliability and represents an emission-free alternative to the internal combustion engine.
The J10-18XD series is available with various battery capacities. Depending on the work cycle and charging requirements, up to 280 kW can be configured. The 350-volt architecture offers the right solution with similar performance and energy efficiency as diesel engines. This solution provides long runtimes and minimizes energy losses without additional costs and complexity for high-voltage systems. Hyster now offers this forklift series with integrated lithium-ion batteries with load capacities ranging from 10,000 to 18,000 kilograms and a load center of 600, 900, or 1,200 millimeters.
“These forklifts underscore our ongoing commitment to practical electric solutions with competitive total operating costs that meet the demands of a wide range of applications. For example, in the wood and metal industries, in ports, and in other intensive applications,” says Ricky Hirani, Global Commercial Product Leader, Big Trucks, Hyster. “With this series, we also aim to facilitate the transition for companies seeking decarbonization. Therefore, the forklifts are equipped with many of the same components as their diesel counterparts from Hyster. They feature battery monitoring and management tools and are compatible with the common charging infrastructure.”
All Hyster electric heavy-duty forklifts come standard with the Combined Charging System (CCS). This global charging standard for electric vehicles allows companies to scale charging for various applications and equipment types cost-effectively. It uses a single standardized charging plug that is utilized across many industries and regions. With the right battery pack and charger, the forklift can operate for about an hour longer in a typical work cycle with an eleven-minute charging time at 90 kW.
Each forklift is equipped with an integrated battery management system (BMS) that provides detailed information on battery status and overall performance. The BMS also offers monitoring functions to prevent overheating and overloading. When the battery level is low, lifting is interrupted. Industry-leading protection against the ingress of foreign objects ensures that batteries and cables withstand the demands of intense operating environments and conditions.
All Information at a Glance in One Cockpit
Through multiple performance modes, the operator can adjust deceleration and regeneration to specific tasks. During regenerative braking, energy is fed back into the battery depending on the selected level of deceleration. This extends the time between charging cycles. In the spacious cabin, the driver can capture all information at a glance like in a cockpit and easily reach the forklift’s controls. Various seat configurations and an adjustable control arm ensure that operators do not tire quickly. The batteries are integrated into the existing design of the high-performance forklift. This provides rear visibility as good as most comparable models with internal combustion engines.
