The project, realized on a 41,000 m² site, has now been awarded the prestigious DEBV Brownfield Certificate. This marks the second Panattoni development to receive this quality seal, following the Mercedes-Benz project in Bischweier.
(Hamburg/Friedewald) In the economically strong region of East Hesse, near Bad Hersfeld, companies from industry, production, and trade now have access to modern and flexibly usable commercial spaces. The total rental area of 23,600 m² is divided into two units with hall spaces, office and social areas, as well as storage mezzanines. Thanks to the direct connection to the A4 motorway and a 24/7 usage permit, the location offers ideal conditions for companies seeking a high-quality property in a strategically advantageous location in the heart of Germany.
Originally used for plastic production, the area has now been prepared for a new, sustainable use. The Panattoni Park Friedewald has been specifically adapted to the site conditions and integrates harmoniously into the surroundings. In addition to modern architecture, Panattoni focuses on a variety of ecological measures: A photovoltaic system ensures renewable energy generation, rainwater utilization reduces water consumption, and green roofs contribute to ecological compensation. Additionally, a wildflower meadow and nesting boxes for species protection have been integrated. A rainwater retention basin designed as a biotope improves the microclimate and supports biodiversity. To optimize working conditions, specially created recreational areas are available for future employees. In addition to maintaining the Brownfield Certificate from the German Brownfield Association (DEBV), certification according to DGNB Gold Standard is being pursued.
Meaningfully redeveloping industrially used areas
“With the Panattoni Park Friedewald, we once again demonstrate how important it is to meaningfully redevelop industrially used areas and make them sustainably usable for the future,” explains Stefan Bohn, Managing Director at Panattoni Germany. “The award of the DEBV Brownfield Certificate confirms our commitment to innovative and environmentally conscious real estate solutions. We are now looking forward to establishing a strong and sustainable location together with suitable tenants.”
Enhancing vacant areas
Raphael Thießen, Managing Director of the German Brownfield Association (DEBV), emphasizes the importance of sustainable revitalizations: “Panattoni is among the pioneers in the revitalization of brownfield areas. The development in Friedewald impressively shows how vacant industrial sites can not only be reactivated but also enhanced through sustainable concepts. The certification with the DEBV certificate is a well-deserved recognition for this forward-looking project development.”
