Port of Kiel narrowly misses last year’s record results in 2024
Jan 16, 2025 at 6:34 PMWith a festive event at the bayernhafen Regensburg, Helrom officially opens its new transalpine connection between Regensburg and Verona. The Bavarian State Minister for Housing, Construction and Transport, Christian Bernreiter, will personally inaugurate the route. The new route not only strengthens the logistical infrastructure of the region but also sets standards for a climate-friendly and reliable freight transport alternative across the Alps.
(Frankfurt/Regensburg/Verona) On January 23, 2025, Helrom invites you to the Grand Opening of the Brenner connection. The event will take place at bayernhafen Regensburg, Wiener Straße 25, 93055 Regensburg, Trailerport T2, starting at 2 PM. In addition to State Minister Christian Bernreiter, who will ceremoniously inaugurate the route, prominent guests include Joachim Zimmermann, Managing Director of bayernhafen, and Roman Noack, Founder and CEO of Helrom.
The new Regensburg—Verona connection is the first transalpine route in the Helrom network and enables intermodal transport of non-craneable truck trailers. Thanks to the barrier-free loading technology, companies can flexibly switch to rail without specialized terminals, thus reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 90%. The route is a milestone for sustainable and stable supply chains in the region and beyond.
“The shift of freight transport from road to rail is a declared goal of the Bavarian State Government,” emphasizes Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter. “Every truck that is loaded onto the rail relieves road traffic. I am pleased that we are getting closer to our goal with the innovative possibility of loading non-craneable truck trailers onto the rail on the new connection from Regensburg to Verona.”
“We appreciate the support of politics for this important project that combines economic efficiency and sustainability in freight transport,” explains Roman Noack. “The new Brenner route is a significant step towards future-oriented and environmentally friendly logistics.”
Insight into the innovative technology and the project
The event will provide a comprehensive presentation of the project and its significance. In addition to the opening speeches, guests can expect a live demonstration of the innovative Helrom loading technology for truck trailers. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in discussions with industry experts and the responsible parties from Helrom.
