DACHSER Celebrates Groundbreaking for New Logistics Facility in Unna
Oct 29, 2024 at 6:15 PMThe partner companies of the transport alliance Cargo24, together with the software company Eponet AG, are establishing the first nationwide charging infrastructure for electric trucks (e-trucks) in Switzerland. A milestone for the sustainable development of the logistics industry.
(Schafisheim, Romanshorn) In the pursuit of greater sustainability and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, e-mobility is increasingly valued in the Swiss transport logistics sector. Electric trucks (e-trucks) have been rarely seen on Swiss roads until now. This is set to change in the future. Cargo24, a leading company in logistics and transport, along with its 20 partner companies, has decided to establish and jointly use the first nationwide charging infrastructure. All partner companies have committed to installing at least one charging station for e-trucks at their respective locations by 2027 at the latest.
To quickly amortize the currently high investments in e-trucks and the corresponding charging infrastructure, the partner companies will provide the charging infrastructure to each other under favorable conditions. The entire charging infrastructure of all logistics companies will be managed by the same software, ensuring efficient processing and billing of all charging transactions among the partner companies. After an intensive evaluation phase, Cargo24 has decided to implement the solution from the software company Eponet AG in Romanshorn for the management of all charging stations.
Charging Processes Initiated by RFID Cards
Specifically, Eponet provides all involved transport logistics companies with their own RFID cards, which can be used to initiate charging processes, primarily at their own stations but also at the charging stations of all partner companies. These RFID cards are registered on the Eponet portal and can then be easily and conveniently activated for the respective charging stations in the network. The partner companies establish the terms for using the charging infrastructure among themselves, thereby creating the basis for comprehensive charging station sharing. Eponet records all charging processes on its portal and settles the mutual transactions simply and transparently.
In the future, the charging infrastructure will also be available to selected transport companies in Switzerland and abroad that are not part of the Cargo24 alliance. Thanks to this comprehensive charging network, Swiss transport logistics is taking a pioneering role in this industry for Central Europe.
Robert Einstein, Managing Director of Cargo24: “We are pleased to welcome Eponet as our software partner for charging station sharing in our alliance. Their innovative solutions, enthusiasm for e-mobility, and expertise have convinced us. Eponet fits perfectly with our sustainability goals, as we aim to operate our distribution more environmentally friendly in the medium term.”
Important Milestone
Daniel Hofer, CEO of Eponet: “The partnership with Cargo24 is an important milestone for our company. We are very proud that we were able to convince Cargo24 of the capabilities of our software and our portal, and we look forward to contributing our expertise to the sustainable future of the transport industry.”
