Aug 13, 2024 at 7:38 PMHarden Industriebau is starting its second project in Cologne-Niehl. The general contractor will construct a modern logistics property covering approximately 35,000 m² on the former site of the Ford plant. The 62,000 m² historic site in Cologne-Niehl, which the automotive company Ford has used for final assembly since the 1950s, provides space for two buildings with a total of six separate units.
(Düsseldorf/Cologne) The Düsseldorf-based company Harden Industriebau is realizing the logistics park according to the highest sustainability standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Harden Industriebau specializes in resource-efficient and sustainable construction and aims for a DGNB Platinum certification. Extensive measures include the use of materials of the highest quality level and a charging infrastructure for cars and bicycles that far exceeds legal requirements.
In addition to the installation of a photovoltaic system, optimal rainwater utilization is also planned. Furthermore, heating will be provided by heat pumps, completely eliminating the use of fossil fuels. After its launch in Germany in September 2023 and the realization of a build-to-suit property for an internationally leading automotive supplier, the Panattoni Park Cologne II is now the second construction project launched in Germany by the general contractor. Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
The 62,000 m² historic site in Cologne-Niehl, which the automotive company Ford has used for final assembly since the 1950s, provides space for two buildings with a total of six separate units. The units range from 5,000 to 6,000 m² and can be flexibly divided, making them suitable for various commercial uses and demonstrating high adaptability for third-party use. In addition to its excellent location near downtown Cologne, the property impresses with a view of the Rhine and offers outstanding access to the highway and public transportation.
Demonstrating Expertise
“This is the first major project in our neighborhood and also the first construction project we are realizing according to the demanding criteria of the DGNB Platinum certification,” says Thorsten Pollok, Managing Director of Harden Industriebau. “We are very pleased that the client has chosen an energy-efficient property with a strong focus on sustainability, as this gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise. We are highly motivated, and the entire team is eager to implement this outstanding project in a great location.”
