Jul 27, 2024 at 11:16 AMAs the first scientific conference in Central Europe on Artificial Intelligence for application particularly in industry and logistics, the “AI24 – The Lamarr Conference” connects science and business on the regional, national, and international stage. The conference will take place on September 4 and 5, 2024, in cooperation with the “Future Congress Logistics” at the Dortmund Westfalenhallen.
(Dortmund) Highlights of the two-day program include keynote and impulse talks by internationally renowned experts from research, business, and politics, the awarding of the “Lamarr Award” to Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Sebastian Thrun, as well as thematic sessions, panel discussions, and workshops on current developments, global trends, and innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence.
Providing a compass for the present and shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) – this is what the Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence stands for as the organizer of the “AI24 – The Lamarr Conference”. With its commitment to networking between science and business, the institute provides impulses for the development of innovative solutions based on scientific progress in the field of application-oriented AI.
The Lamarr Institute organizes the AI24 in cooperation with the “Future Congress Logistics – 42nd Dortmund Talks”, which has been successfully established in Dortmund for over 40 years and this year focuses on the main theme “Industrial AI & Logistics”, highlighting the industrial application of AI. At the same time, the trade fair “IN2AI” will take place at the Dortmund Westfalenhallen, organized by Messe Dortmund, focusing on the transformation of industry and logistics through Artificial Intelligence. Participants of the AI24 have free access to the IN2AI trade fair.
The combination of the events offers exciting points of connection for new contacts and mutual inspiration on various levels: Researchers benefit from the opportunities for interdisciplinary scientific exchange and networking, decision-makers from business and start-ups receive impulses for AI innovations, and representatives from industrial companies can discover AI-based solutions and find competent contacts.
International AI Expertise from Research, Industry, and Logistics
The first day of the AI24 starts with greetings from the directors of the Lamarr Institute, the Mayor of Dortmund, Thomas Westphal, and the Minister for Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ina Brandes, followed by the awarding of the first “Lamarr Award”. This year, the award honors the internationally renowned pioneer in the field of AI, robotics, autonomous driving, and digital education: Sebastian Thrun.
The further program provides a platform for highly relevant topics from AI top research and its application in business, focusing on Generative AI, the use of AI in industry and logistics, as well as AI education for the next generations. The first conference day concludes with an evening event held in cooperation with the Dortmund Economic Development Agency in the atmospheric setting of the Phoenix des Lumières, which also serves as the framework for the awarding of the “Digital Logistics Award”.
Exploration of the Diverse Applications and Potentials of AI
The second conference day also offers participants exciting impulses from various disciplines and thematic focuses, as well as the opportunity for intensive networking. After the opening by Hendrik Wüst MdL, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, keynote speeches from the fields of Artificial General Intelligence and AI in astrophysics will follow.
