(Bremen) “Experience logistics live” – under this motto, the 17th Logistics Day will take place on April 18, 2024. The decentralized action day was initiated in 2008 by the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL) to showcase the diversity of logistics and counteract the shortage of skilled workers. Since then, companies, organizations, and institutes from all over Europe have opened their doors every third Thursday in April to present their activities and career opportunities.
As diverse as logistics itself
At www.tag-der-logistik.de, interested parties can find out about the program and register for numerous events. Participation is always free of charge. A total of 85 events in Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland are already planned for this year’s action day, with some highlights mentioned here:
- Bremen: Warehouse tour in a high-bay warehouse of Tchibo and BLG Logistics
- Berlin: Presentation of the job profile “Specialist for Port Logistics” by BEHALA – Berliner Hafen- und Lagerhausgesellschaft mbH
- Dortmund: Company tour in a transshipment warehouse of DACHSER SE

In addition, the event program offers many other webinars, tours, workshops, expert lectures, career information events, forklift courses, an escape room of logistics, and more. Companies, organizations, and institutes from logistics can list their events for free on the website until April 18.
More attention for logistics
With more than 3.3 million employees and a turnover of over 327 billion euros in 2023, logistics represents the third largest economic sector in Germany after trade and the automotive industry. Its task – the planning, control, coordination, execution, and monitoring of goods and information flows – is not only company-specific but also cross-industry. Accordingly, its job offerings are diverse: logistics employs workers at all qualification levels and in all fields. The activities are meaningful and system-relevant, as neither the economy nor society can function without them. This relevance and diversity is what Logistics Day aims to anchor in public consciousness and to give the economic sector the attention it deserves.
At the same time, Logistics Day addresses the shortage of skilled workers. Studies by the logistics association DSLV and the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” show that young professionals are sought at all qualification levels and in all areas of logistics. In particular, professional drivers and warehouse logistics specialists, as well as salespeople, IT specialists, and trainees are in short supply – a trend that is increasing. On Logistics Day, companies can present their job offerings, and logistics enthusiasts can learn about career opportunities at the events. Thus, the action day strengthens the entire economic sector.
About Logistics Day
Logistics Day takes place annually on the third Thursday in April and was initiated in 2008 by the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL). Since autumn 2021, the organization of the Europe-wide action day has been in the hands of the two agencies specialized in logistics communication, mainblick GmbH, Frankfurt, and teamtosse GmbH, Munich. The BVL, the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher,” and many other initiatives and associations support the action day as ideological partners. Companies, institutes, and organizations can support Logistics Day as partners. For a financial contribution, they receive a comprehensive service package for maximum visibility in the context of the action day and are included in all communication activities.
The website www.tag-der-logistik.de and the linked social media channels serve as central communication channels for the general public. Participating companies can enter their events and further information there free of charge. Participation in the events is also free of charge.
Thus, Logistics Day offers opportunities for everyone – companies create more acceptance among neighbors, media, and politics, strengthen customer contacts as well as contacts with employees, and can attract potential new employees. Participants gain interesting insights into the logistical processes and the diverse functions and processes that they trigger in their daily lives through their purchasing or consumption behavior. And they see what diverse career opportunities exist within logistics for a range of highly qualified individuals, such as IT specialists, to career starters and unskilled workers.
