The Matter of Transport Law: Dry – But Necessary
Dec 14, 2023 at 4:03 PMGalenica and Planzer are establishing a joint venture. The new company, named Health Supply AG, aims to make the transportation of medications and other products to healthcare providers more efficient and sustainable. Health Supply will primarily focus on deliveries that are already being carried out by Planzer and other transport service providers on behalf of the Galenica Group. Planzer will own 60% of the shares in the new company, while Galenica will own 40%.
(Dietikon/Bern) Planzer and Galenica are founding a new joint venture, Health Supply AG, for the delivery of medications and medical products to providers such as pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, or care homes. In the Health Supply AG, all transport services that are currently carried out by Planzer and other transport service providers on behalf of the Galenica Group will be bundled. The offerings of Health Supply complement the deliveries that will continue to be carried out by the logistics companies of the Galenica Group. The transport services of Health Supply will be temperature-controlled and comply with the guidelines of the “Good Distribution Practice” (GDP). They will also be open to other market participants.
Room for Sustainable Transport Solutions
With the establishment of Health Supply, Galenica reduces the complexity that has arisen from working with various transport service providers and thus increases efficiency and planning in logistics, especially in urban areas. At the same time, the joint venture serves as a platform for developing, testing, and implementing sustainable transport solutions, such as new alternative drives for delivery vehicles. Galexis is already testing various drives, particularly biogas, and in the future also electric drives. Planzer is also investing heavily in this area and is operating vehicles with alternative drives throughout Switzerland. The joint venture is tasked with advancing the achievement of sustainability goals regarding greenhouse gas emissions for both partners.
The CEO of Health Supply AG will be Stefan Röösli, who has previously worked as the transport manager at the Villmergen location for Planzer. The headquarters of Health Supply is located in Villmergen. The joint venture will initially have around 50 to 100 employees. Confidentiality has been agreed upon regarding the financial details of the joint venture.
The Strengths of Both Companies Combined
Andreas Koch, Head of Wholesale & Logistics at Galenica, says: “We are pleased about the establishment of Health Supply AG together with Planzer, a leading transport company with which we have been closely collaborating for a long time. Both companies bring their strengths in transport and healthcare logistics – from Switzerland and for Switzerland.”
