With the aim of making road transport more sustainable, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is entering into a pioneering partnership with shipzero. The Hamburg-based company specializes in measuring and reducing CO2 emissions in global freight transport. The collaboration builds on a pilot project that has been successfully running since April of this year. As part of the cooperation, shipzero supports the entire data management process and determines the CO2 emissions for Hellmann’s global road business.
(Osnabrück/Hamburg) In doing so, shipzero also incorporates primary data from external logistics partners into the calculations, ensuring that the CO2 measurements are based on actual consumption data rather than estimates and averages, as has been common in the market.
To determine precise emission values, data exchange occurs via shipzero’s platform between Hellmann and its transport partners, allowing for accurate Scope 3 emissions to be collected per customer, shipment, and route segment. These are then integrated into the calculation of the corporate carbon footprint, external audits, as well as customer and sustainability reports, thus supporting compliance with new regulatory requirements that will come into effect in 2024. Through data-driven preparation and analysis of traffic data, Hellmann can identify concrete decarbonization projects within the supply chain and implement them together with its partners.

Deep Transparency and Decision-Making Capability
“Our goal is to create deep transparency and decision-making capability for Hellmann regarding its decarbonization process – and to do so according to reliable international standards.
