Nov 25, 2023 at 7:35 PMThere are personnel changes in the management of HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH: Starting February 1, 2024, Jens Schmeidler will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), succeeding Andreas Grzib. The previous Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Jan Zeese (CAO) is leaving the company by mutual agreement.
(Köln/Duisburg) “We have been able to recruit a very experienced manager for the position of COO of HGK Logistics and Intermodal in Jens Schmeidler. He brings a wealth of expertise, particularly in the area of contract logistics. We wish him much luck and success in his upcoming tasks,” explains Uwe Wedig, CEO of the shareholder Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG. At the same time, he thanks Jan Zeese for his contributions to HGK Logistics and Intermodal: “Jan Zeese has significantly advanced the modernization of today’s HGK Logistics and Intermodal in various ways over the past years – for example, through his key role in establishing our successful new location in Ladenburg.”
Jens Schmeidler has many years of experience as a leader in retail and the transport and logistics industry. Throughout his career, he has held various management positions at Hellmann, Deutsche Post DHL, and Hermes Fulfillment, as well as serving as managing director and board member at Meyer & Meyer. He is now transitioning from his current role as authorized signatory and division manager of Retail Services & Fulfillment at the retail cooperation ANWR Group eG to the HGK Group. The 52-year-old succeeds Andreas Grzib as COO, who left the company at his own request in the summer of 2023.
Exciting Path of Transformation
“HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH, like the entire HGK Group, is on an exciting path of transformation. I am very much looking forward to being able to accompany and shape this process soon,” says Jens Schmeidler. Together with Markus Krämer, Chief Executive Officer (Chairman of the Management Board), Schmeidler will form the management of HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH starting February 1, 2024.
With immediate effect, Dr. Jan Zeese is leaving the company. “With the year 2024, neska will also formally become part of HGK Logistics and Intermodal. This is another important step. I sincerely wish all parties involved every success and am grateful that I was able to help shape the path for a while,” emphasizes Dr. Jan Zeese.
