Oct 13, 2023 at 7:57 PMModulor, an established concept store in Berlin, faced the challenge of optimizing and making its complex warehouse processes more efficient. Thanks to the implementation of the BE-terna Reactor platform, Modulor was able to significantly improve its warehouse logistics, reduce errors, and save costs.
(Innsbruck/Berlin) Since its founding in the 1980s, Modulor has been a go-to place for anyone looking to create and be creative. In addition to the concept store with over 35,000 products spread over more than 3,000 square meters and expert advice, the company also operates a large online distribution. A large logistics warehouse was rented a few years ago in Berlin Schönefeld, which is operated under the subsidiary “Modulor Produktions- und Logistik GmbH.”
The existing logistics processes in Schönefeld were lengthy and error-prone. Each item in the very detailed assortment had to be identified individually. Often, handwritten storage location codes were assigned and then manually entered in the office. This frequently led to errors and unnecessary delays that affected the picking process. Therefore, the company was looking for a solution to improve these processes.
From the Right Solution to Smooth Integration
Modulor placed great importance on being able to take matters into their own hands and make adjustments at any time. This limited the range of possible solutions. Ultimately, the decision was made in favor of the Reactor Platform from BE-terna. It allows for the development of individual user applications directly within the ERP system.
A significant advantage over other providers was also the provision of an industry solution for logistics. This already provided a solid foundation that only needed to be tailored to Modulor’s specific needs. Thanks to centralized source code compiling, this was uncomplicated. For developers, the platform offers the opportunity to work in their familiar ERP programming environment while seamlessly integrating hardware and software.
Sascha Biesel, developer at Modulor: “The onboarding to the platform went smoothly. We were pleasantly surprised by how little support we needed, and when we did, BE-terna was quick and competent to assist.”
Increased Efficiency and Cost Savings
Modulor was able to save 35,000 euros through the new application. Additionally, a time savings of 165 person-days per year was achieved. The drastic reduction in errors ensured a smooth picking process and minimized delays.
The challenges in Modulor’s logistics processes not only affected operational efficiency but also the working environment of warehouse employees. However, with the introduction of the new application, this changed significantly. The lengthy and error-prone manual assignment of storage location codes is a thing of the past. Furthermore, communication and walking distances between the warehouse and office were optimized, leading to a more efficient and pleasant working environment.
Reliable Partnership
Rene Roling, head of Business Operations at Modulor, praised the collaboration with BE-terna: “I have many years of experience in the industry and have worked with many different companies, but I have rarely experienced such a reliable partnership. I can recommend BE-terna 100%.”
The solution has not only increased their operational efficiency but also helped maintain their competitiveness in a constantly changing business world. Modulor remains a place of inspiration and creative exchange while simultaneously benefiting from the advantages of digital transformation.
