Founded on the Initiative of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce
The founding of Zürcher Freilager AG dates back to an initiative taken by the Zurich Chamber of Commerce in 1923. It aimed to promote trade and transit trade through Zurich and facilitated the establishment of a duty-free area on the 70,000 m² site in Zurich-Albisrieden. The area was later transformed into the residential quarter Freilager Zurich. Today, there are 850 rental apartments, 200 student rooms, and nearly 20,000 m² of commercial and office space. About 2,500 people live and work in Freilager Zurich.
